A Porcelain Dental Crown Can Be Used to Restore a Tooth’s Appearance

Posted .

Our dentist, Dr. Arthur Kremer and the staff at Arthur Kremer DDS understand just how much your smile’s appearance means to you. When the appearance of one of your teeth is compromised by cosmetic or physical issues, it can have a larger impact on your life.

Sometimes Dr. Kremer can restore your smile’s appearance by placing veneers on your teeth. If you have one tooth that needs repair, he might recommend restoring its appearance with a dental crown.

A crown will replace the original tooth enamel with a dental-quality porcelain material. It can be shaded to match the other teeth in your smile.

To prepare the tooth for a crown, Dr. Kremer will first need to form an abutment by removing the enamel with a dental drill. This leaves behind a small abutment that will later serve as an anchor for the crown.

Dr. Kremer will then form an impression of the area which will be sent to a dental lab, where your new crown will be created.

When it’s ready, Dr. Kremer will put the new crown in place with a strong dental adhesive.

If you are in the Herscher, Illinois, area and you have a tooth in need of cosmetic restoration, you should call 815-426-2611 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Kremer.
